Is Shea Butter Anti-Ageing?

Posted by Courtney Black on

Do you know about the many benefits of Shea Butter and ageing skin?  And I'm not talking over 40's skin here.  In fact, your skin actually starts to age from your mid-twenties, so getting on top of excellent skincare early on is paramount.
Most people only think of using Shea Butter on dry skin, stretch marks and scars. However, because it is super rich in vitamins A, E and F, these highly moisturising properties make it extremely beneficial for ageing skin.  It also contains allantoin, an enzyme which promotes healthy cell development.
The people of Uganda have been using Shea Nilotica Butter for hundreds of years calling it "Women's Gold", so no wonder the women in Uganda have incredible skin, even though they are working in the fields every day under the hot sun.  It has also been said that the Queen of the Nile, Cleopatra used shea butter herself to keep her skin soft and youthful.
What makes SHEER SHEA Nilotica Butter unique?
SHEER SHEA Butter comes from a shea nut called Nilotica found in Eastern Africa Uganda extracted straight from the source of the Nile. The shea nut tree takes 20 years to grow and is known locally as the ‘moo-yahoo tree’ which bares fruit once a year. Shea butter Nilotica nuts are wild harvested by the local women then washed and dried in the sun. Processing is 100% chemical free ensuring a pure, natural and organic end product.

SHEER SHEA butter from Uganda is sweeter in aroma and has significantly higher content of olein which contains most of the therapeutic substances found in Shea butter. Oleic acid provides moisturising and regenerating, anti-inflammatory, and softening properties which makes it the ideal choice for mature skin. It is luxuriously softer with a creamier texture compared to the West African Shea butter (Paradoxa) which has to be rubbed with frictional heat.

What is the best way to use SHEER SHEA for anti-ageing purposes?

As part of your night time routine, apply a small amount SHEER SHEA butter or oil to your face, neck and décolletage, lips and eye area (after cleansing and applying your serums).   By leaving it overnight your skin should feel soft and super hydrated the next morning with most, if not all irritation/redness gone.  You can also apply a small amount of butter to your face and lips in the morning if you feel you need extra hydration for the day.
Remember, a little goes a long way.  The butter melts like an oil when you apply it, so if you have any left over, rub it on your elbows, arms and legs - or on the kids if you have them as it's completely child-friendly!
Say "hello" to your new anti-ageing friend, SHEER SHEA :-)
